Laptop Battery

I have a sony vaio but only manage to get a couple of hours surfing before the battery runs out.

Is this about right?

    i only get about 2 minutes from my sony laptop battery

    In my experience, no.

    Basically, if you are travelling with a laptop try to keep to places with plug points (they now have them on trains for example). :o

    Yes, but they are only usually going to last, say, 50% longer than normal ones (so 3 hours instead of 2).

    Although, with 2 batteries I suppose you could swap them when the first got low...

    Yes you can its a toss up beteewn Lith Ion and Nickel Hydride or summet
    plus try not to plug to many peripherals in, mind you I havent see may people
    on a Bus with a printer and scanner aswell.

    If you really need to run the laptop for some hours reliably then consider an external power supply like this http://www.battech.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=738

    Advantage is long life off the mains - disadvantage is extra weight.

    This is the compromise that is present in the design of every laptop which is to be used off mains extensively.

    A further point - if you don't use your laptop off mains from time to time then you may well find that the battery will be hopeless after a year orless.
