Oldstyle - The Dark Side.............

I think my OH is rather proud of me for being frugal and making the most of things, although he won't eat my soup either (mind you, he's not much of a one for soup). Most of my other friends just think I'm mad though, or old before my time (always have been, always will be), but I don't care (although secretly I do, just a tad). I just wish I could get my cakes to turn out universally perfect instead of brilliant the first time and getting gradually worse in spite of following the recipe exactly!Continually trying the Grocery Challenge. Gotta keep trying!0

My DH wouldn't dare not eat what I'd cooked! LOL. I do get really mad when he looks in the fridge and goes 'tehre's nothing to eat' despite me working out the week's food on a planner which is BY THE FRIDGE. What he means is 'I'm a lazy !!!! and I can't be botehred to make anything, I want something immediate.' GRRRRR0

LOL this reminded of last Saturday night when I had a works night out planned and was I dressed up in a posh frock/ballgown, hair all fancy & nails freshly done .
I was off for a 3 course slap up meal but my neice and nephew were staying, so I said to OH what are you all having for tea?
After looking in the bulging fridge and freezer, and struggling to shut the freezer draws he said "we've got nothing in but ingredients" and looked at me puzzled then went and sat back in the living room!
I asked the kids if jackets with Cheesy beans sounded good, and he said "Wont you get your dress in a mess?" LOL
He finally got the message when I was stood there glaring/growling hand on hips!
Hm...I got my own back when I came in a little worse for wear at 2.30am! he he!Right now I'm having amnesia and deja- vu at the same time. I think I've forgotten this before0 -
Make homemade soup every week for both DH and me to take to work for lunch - veg broth, leek and tattie, butternut squash and chilli, lentil, carrot & coriander, minestrone, pea & ham (from a chicken! - you have to remember the Knorr stock cube adverts from the 80s
)

Your husband is only 18 months old?!:eek::eek::rotfl:0 -
I used to put ingredients in the slow cooker late at night for a curry or soup and let it cook overnight.
Could not understand for ages why the level was only an inch or so from the top when I started to cook it yet when I came down in the morning the level was at least two or three inches from the top.
I was just about to contact the manufacturer to complain bitterly about their faulty product when I came downstairs at 7a.m. to find DH scoffing his third bowl of chicken curry!!!!
Mystery solved!!!
Now that I know he regards the slow cooker as a "magical cooking pot" that fills itself up and never gets empty - I stand guard over the blasted thing and remind him to leave some for the rest of the family.
Nessie
I remember the Knorr adverts too!!!!
Does everyone else get the same satisfaction when family peers into fridge (not very full) and says "There is nothing to eat!" Half an hour later you have produced Spanish omelet, Baked potatoes, wedges or pancakes from the "nothing!!!";)"This site is addictive!"

I know what you mean about the dark side. I've made 2 lasagnes today and some meat sauce for spag bol. I make a lot of soup and mine regularly complain. Thing is I like everything I make!
Everyone in my house has very different tastes. There is not one thing I make that everyone likes and I get fed up s sometimes and buy easy crappy stuff.
Spinach soup looks very green (!) I like it, husband likes it kids complain!
What do DD and DH mean?0
