Oldstyle - The Dark Side.............

What am I talking about, that side of oldstyle where you nearest and dearest, yet again, do NOT

eat the delicious soup that you made by boiling the chicken carcass for stock and making by hand a potato and leek soup.....

finish the loving made wholemeal loaf that you selflesslessly plonked into the bread machine at 1 am in order that you ungrateful family can wake up to the smell of freshly baked bread and have something nutrious to eat.....and

giggle at your attempts to make the lightest, fluffiest cakes and they turn out a little flat and 'crunchy'......:o ....and then

moan that 'there is nothing to eat' when your freezer lid cannot be shut, the cupboards are bursting and the fridge is overflowing. ....and have the cheek to

look at you accusingly when [STRIKE]most of[/STRIKE] a few of Twinks Hobnobs were [STRIKE]crammed into your mouth[/STRIKE] eaten and there isn't tons left for them (I made 'em, I'll eat 'em ;) )

hubby's learnt not to complain when we run out of hobnobs (he asks nicely if i'll make some more as they are lovely and delish!) and i'll eat all of my leek and potato soup (in fact i did today!) if he doesn't want it.

LOL, my DH is easily kept happy, doesn't complain too much as long as there are tea bags, satsumas and/or kiwis somewhere in the house! He does seem to prefer shop bought bread than HM/BM although loves my HM rolls! <men-sigh>. DH is a different kettle of fish, mind you he is only 1 and a half and I am hoping he grows up with the notion that mum (and dad) can cook and everything does not need to come ready prepped!

DD(19) has just phoned me to say how much everybody in the student house enjoyed the hobnobs I left them at the weekend.

I have promised to make more next time we see her.

Making more home made rolls this afternoon as everyone seems to love them. Even the basic rapid bread recipe in the Panasonic gets gobbled up.

Making Spanish omelet for DD when she gets home from school as she will be starving.

Find they are all much more appreciative if I have been out all day and not home with stuff waiting now and again, so they have to make beans on toast for themselves.

OH doesn't eat my soup either ;) I just freeze it for easy lunches at work. The kids eat the soup though.

To be fair - my split pea and ham soup did look a bit like snot :p Tasted good though :) Didn't even attempt to feed that one to the kids, just kept it for work ;)

Not one of my brood eat soup of any kind flavour or desxription.. now a bowl of snot they would most likely ready dip into.. sounds like that might become a halloween favourite!

I'll have hell to pay for feeding them casserole.. 'we don't like gravy!!' I tell them it is sick and to just eat the lumps.. lol :p.. after they have complained.. not before or they might believe me!

Our house is the opposite - if I don't serve gravy then there's questions as to why!

My sister used to eat hm soup but ask for just the "juice" - no lumps ;)

I did threaten to give the kids a plate of just cauli and sprouts the other day though - think they got the message ;)

I make a huge pot of leek and potato, intending to freeze the leftovers.......but there are never any!

DS will eat it all the time, if I kept making it!
Just eaten a cassoulet tonight with the leftover roast pork from Sunday, a tin of butter beans, tin of baked beans, tin of ratatouille, an onion and garlic.
    Delicious!!!
