Mother Teresa is hardly an historical character, she only died 11 years ago!

Florence Nightingale might be easier if she happens to have a nurse's outfit (though maybe use a longer skirt) and she could carry a candlestick or something?

For primary school aged children, Mother Theresa is most definitely historical.

I think I'm right in saying that she usually wore a white veil with blue bands across the front. White tea-towel and glued-on ribbon or felt?
    A simple shift-dress or long-sleeved t-shirt and long skirt.
A cross hung around the neck, and she could carry a small bible.

jpaine, I think Mother Theresa is a perfect choice. I googled and yes, she is wearing something like a tea-towel as head covering. White with a blue border.
Mother Theresa will I'm sure be watching over your seven year old as she depicts her image.
As for only 11 years gone? What constitutes an historical figure?

History is the study of the past according to google so something that happened yesterday is History.

    I would go for a white T-shirt...
  • Looking at a google image search the best thing seems to be a white dress/blouse with a long white skirt, and a black cardigan over the top (again long if possible). She also wears a blue/white striped sash (which matches the stripe on her headress).

    HTH.
