Be careful when changing to ebico- southern electric stealing ebico customers!
If you've recently changed to ebico I would check what you're being charged.
3 weeks ago our gas supply to ebico (or so we thought) went live. After a week I thought the meter seemed to be charging too much. I phoned ebico, but got through to southern electric (who deal with the billing and customer service side of ebico). I gave the customer advisor meter readings and he confirmed that I wasn't on an ebico tariff, but a southern electric one charging 5.51p per kWh!!
I asked why we wasn't on the ebico tariff, he claimed there was nothing down to say we were on the ebico tariff - he couldn't provide an explanation.
I then requested to be put on the ebico tariff, he accepted and said it'll take 10-14 days to change to the ebico tariff and that I should phone up in 10 days to confirm that the tariff is being changed.
I phoned up today, southern electric claimed they had no record of a change to the ebico tariff:mad: Apparently an email has been sent this time and I should phone up in 10 days again...

How did you originally switch?
I think the only way to switch is online using the ebico website or in writing using the ebico application form. Whilst there may have been an administrative error in putting you on the wrong tariff, there surely can't be any error in the company you applied to.
Ensure that you are credited the difference for any units that you have used at the higher rate."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -

We applied over the phone, using the number from the ebico website.

We applied over the phone, using the number from the ebico website.

When I tried that, they told me they couldn't arrange a switch to ebico over the phone and arranged for a paper form to be sent to me.
That's when I then applied online through the ebico website.
Surely if you applied over the phone, they would have sent you a confirmation including your rights to cancel, that would have specified the deal agreed to.
Be aware that when you call the number on the ebico website, you get put through to SSE who may not be aware, unless you specifically inform them, that you want ebico as your supplier. I pretty sure all calls are recorded. You could ask them to review it if you think they have done something wrong, or request a copy for yourself (which may cost about a tenner, but if you prove SSE to be in the wrong, I'm sure SSE will credit you with this)"Now to trolling as a concept. ....
