Competition - Another campaign urgently needed?

Now that so many banks & building societies are merging, I think we need an urgent campaign to force financial organisations to have separate registrations to ensure some healthy competition within the financial sector. It seems crazy to me that some of the popular providers like Halifax, Birm. Midshires. Saga and AA all share the same registration. With the £50,000 compensation limit, this immediately removes many popular savings choices for individuals with higher sums and severely limits choice.
I know Martin's a very busy man but we need somebody like him with some influence to ensure some healthy competition continues to exist, despite the recent changes we've seen in the banking world.

I think the biggest problem at the moment is that the banks are trying to survive and until everything settles, nothing is going to change for savers.0
