Advise please re child benefit

Hi

we are currently receiving child benefit and tax credits for our 16 year old daughter who is in further education. However, she has developed severe panic attacks and is not attending school at present, and not sure if she will be able to go back to full time advanced education. Are we still able to claim these benefits as she is officially off school due to illness. Any advise would be well received.

  • This is from memory(and going back 4 or 5 years)I think what happens is that they pay child benefit until the next cut off date(they have 3 a year jan/may/august?),whilst you receive c/b you should also get ctc as she is seen as a dependant, once c/b stops so will ctc
If i`m wrong i`m sure someone with more upto date knowledge will be along soon, its not my intention to misinform
  • I'm not sure in regards to child benefit but with tax credits you need to inform them of the date your daughter decides that she can no longer continue in full time education.
