does custard freeze?

I would freeze it in an ice cube tray and take out chunks as and when for a sweet snack (a bit like icecream).
Or more likely whip up some cream and combine to make an icecream, but you have to be prepared to keep and eye on it and beat out the crystals periodically whilst freezing.
Even more likely I would eat the custard for breakfast
