Laptop start up problem. Help please

Hi,
My laptop (IBM) Think Pad, Pentium 3, Windows XP, refuses to start up. All I get is an error message saying:
ERROR 0175: BAD CRC1, stop POST task.
If anyone could help I would be most grateful. Should I try installing Windows XP again?
Nothing responds at all.

You could try resetting the Bios to the defaults, does this model have an "Access IBM" button? If so, press this at bootup.
If you can't get past the bios screen, you can't re-install XP.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
Thanks for all your advice. I will have to take it somewhere for an assessment for repair.
