I am trying to replace a battery in my sons I-Pod and wondered whether anyone knows if this can be done without sending it away? Is there a high street chain that carries out the service?
Also, I know that it costs approx £40 to send to numerous companies but does anone have knowledge of how good they are?
Any help appreciated

Maplin sell them and they come with instructions - or so I believe.

Maplin's have batteries for under £20 (thought they were cheaper than that).
Can be changed easily if you are capable and have a few small tools.0
