Laminate Floor & Carpets in a flat

I'm in the process of choosing laminate/wooden flooring (depending on budget) and carpets for a new flat (first floor).
Potentially, I'll buy the flooring online and get a friend of the family to fit it.
However, I'm struggling:
I'm having laminate/wood in the hallway, and carpet in the bedrooms. What do I choose to go between the doors? Should I choose laminate door bars between laminate and carpet, or can I stick with the usual metal bars with carpet??
Also, as I'm living above someone and don't want to get off on the wrong foot, what underlay should I choose? The thickest possible, I suppose!
If anyone has any recommendations when going from laminate to carpet across rooms, I'd be grateful.
TIA

you will need to use two types of finish strips the normal carpet gripper edge strips and then a laminate finish strip which allows the laminate to move (breath) these are easily found in most diy stores or from the suppliers of the flooring
I would go for the thick underlay its like a fibre board which helps with soundproofing.
As for switching flooring between rooms try to pick plain nuetral carpets which blend well with laminates creams/beige etc0
