Ah. Sub £500, you're not going to find one that'll play Counterstrike: Source with any level of playability although they'll play the original Counterstrike fine. Add another £100 on and you can.
I can highly recommend these:

It's got a 512MB Geforce 9600GT so it'll play anything you'll be able to throw at it for the next couple of years. It's actually faster than my desktop
A friend of mine bought one a few weeks ago and asked me to set it up for him. I was well impressed by it. Excellent build quality. He said that throughout the whole process, he was kept informed of what was going on so from a buyers point of view was happy. Online support is good too.
The company also gets top ratings in the PC magazines.0 -
Agree with above, you'll need to spend a little more than £500 to get something that will allow you to enjoy gaming, not just play them.

After seeing a recommendation from the main site here I bought an Acer Aspire 5920G for just over £400 in July from Amazon.
It is a terrific laptop and I am delighted with my purchase.
Make sure you get a model with the 2GB RAM, the T7300 processor and the NVIDIA 8600M GT graphics card and you will be able to play a lot of modern games though not at the top levels.
Google for all the reviews and look on You Tube for examples of how the 5920G plays games.
I think it will be difficult to get better value.0 -
The more you pay the better the spec and the cooler it seems to heat the case, and the bigger the screen and better the supplied software (Adobe Premier + Photoshop) Also has HDMI output and a blue ray DVD player for HD movies. Check out the Sony Vaio range, very nice, got one. More a desktop replacement and faster than my workstation!0

Hi there,
I'm after a laptop 2 but just get baffled by the techy bits.
I understand i shud look for 2gb ram, dual core, i want a decent screen size. Not sure what shared grahphics means? Not really for playing games, just emailing, downloading music, homework that kinda stuff.
I'm searching high and low, ebuyer, play etc but just get lost in specs. Can anyone recommend a good deal, want to spend about £300 - £350?
Thanks:hello: Laugh and smile everyday, it keeps you healthy ! :wave:Thanks for everybodies help on here, what a great community !0 -
You could do worse than look at the Acer Aspire 5720 T7500 2GB 15.4" Laptop from Tesco.
I had to set one up a few weeks ago, and I really liked it. Not going to set the world on fire, but nice for the price.0
