First Negative received - any tips please

I have just had my first negative. I have over 1600 feedbacks and was at 100%. The sale was for one of the cheapest things I sell and I am wondereing if it has been done on purpose. The buyer has 11 feedbacks.
I have been in touch with them and offered a refund. They say the box was cracked, but it left me in perfect condition, so it must have happened in the post. I have also asked them to mutally withdraw, but has yet they have not. It has really upset me.
Does anybody know how many feedback you have to get before it goes back up to 100%

Also has anybody found you get less sales now you have a neg?

Any advice would be great?

If they're being unreasonable, leave them a negative and then offer a mutual withdrawl.

Your feedback will be 99.99% positive, so you'll be fine!

I dont have the answer to your question, but I am in the same position regarding a sale I made on Amazon. A really cheap book, but in fabulous condition was sold by me to someone who has just emailed to say the book is really damp and smells of mould!!! Apparently it is stinking their room out. I am in shock about it as I have a very keen sense of smell! The book was like new! I wonder if some people do this as a matter of course - to get the item and a full refund.

So I truly empathise with you. I have 100% on Amazon so it is not going to look good for me if they put that down!

I don't distinguish between figures of 99% and above.

I wouldn't bother about 97% or 98% for someone with less than 100 feedbacks.

I've read too many horror stories about unreasonable people operating on ebay to let a couple of negs bother me.

I suspect any sensible person is much the same.

After all, if you've got 1600 feedbacks and only 1 neg, that is a very impressive record. I'd say you have been quite lucky to avoid a couple more idiots/scumbags.

Please don't let it worry you.

If you are confident as to your case, leave a factual response to the neg - somthing on the lines of 'item in good cond, buyer claims case cracked, full refnd offered' and neg them back .

With 1600 positive feedback I wouldn't worry about the 100% score, your response to the neg will be just as relevant.

it wouldnt bother me and i have 1033 & 99.9% positive(like you someone left a negative for an item that cost 1p !!!!! and £2.97 postage , left negative over postal fees which i always have in huge bright red numbers on my listing details so when she bid her 1p she must have spotted it. I would post a reply under her feedback & neg her(if you still can as i think ebay arnt letting you do that anymore..another stupid rule!).then i would offer to withdraw as it will look worse for her.
I would also say that she broke ebay guidelines by not contacting you before leaving negative & you will report this to ebay(i am so with you on this one as i have also had a negative for another stupid amount 99p cd as case was cracked in post. )
You should like me say look at my picture of item.cd was not cracked when i sent it.

personally i'd leave a reply and take it on the chin, although impressive having that many positive feedbacks, it does leave you open to idiots and extortionists.
something along the lines of 'where do these nutbags come from?'

I think you'll be fine with one negative, make sure you respond to it, to let other ebayers know what you did to attempt to resolve the situation.

I always look at WHY the neg has been left before I decide whether or not to buy from that ebayer.

Sorry this has happened to you.

I am so sorry - it is a horrid thing to happen and I can feel for you. You have been very lucky to have avoided one for this long as there are some real idiots out there, but I dont suppose that makes you feel any better about it. I would leave them negative feedback and dont forget to use the ebay taiwan site as you can write soooo much more!! Just be proud of yourself for having avoided it for so long and have a very :xmassign: x

I have read somewhere on this board that if you use e-bay taiwan to leave feedback or follow up to feedback left and the person notices they can report it and get it removed. Hubby has used it in the past as you get more characters but not sure if its worth it any more.
