Estate Agents Struggling To Sell 1 Property Per Week!

Estate Agents are now struggling to sell one property per week.
The deteriorating situation has been exacerbated by the unwillingness of banks and building societies to lend to home buyers, even if they did want to take advantage of falling prices to get on the housing ladder.
Many estate agents think that though prices will continue to tumble, transactions will soon improve as sellers slash their prices and attract more buyers into the market.

So how far will prices have to fall, before recovery starts?

it isnt just the estate agents who are struggling - all businesses to do with houses, moving etc are in dire straights!!
my son drives HGV for a removals company. no one is moving though!! on the firm he works for people are being laid off and those who ARE left there, are all on a four day week and still scrapping around looking for things to do!!
its a dreadful situation for all those people who work in businesses that are connected in some way to house buying and selling.0 -
It isn't just housing related positions, jobs in all sectors are at risk.
Cable & Wireless are axing 700 jobs
Dairy Crest are axing 100 jobs
First Milk (a supplier to Dairy Crest) is axing 47 jobs
Wacker Neuson (next door to First Milk plant) is possibly losing 97 jobs
Northern Automotive Services is proposing 99 job losses
73 Police Officers or 134 Civilian posts to go in North Wales Police Authority
300 jobs to go at Devonport Dockyard in Plymouth
Tfl to cut several hundred jobs
Corus to cut 400 jobs
Welcome to recession hit Britain.
How safe is your job?

There's 3 times as many estate agents as there needs to be. The rest of them are chancers who jumped on the gravy train in recent yearsKrusty & Phil Madoff, 1990 - 2007:

I agree, far too many estate agents, now chasing what little business there is left. Since our house went on the market we have had lots of letters from other EA's trying to get us to change to them and at least a dozen letters/leaflets from removal companies.0

This thread was the latest update of house prices from the media
As we have had numerous thread on house prices in the past.. I thought another thread on it would not be beneficial. So ppl can make their own minds up within this thread?:rolleyes:0 -

In our local paper last Friday (property night) one agent had a full page add showing houses sold in October. Can't remember how many but alot more than four, twenty odd I should think. I'll have a look and see if I can find it.Sell £1500

The people down the road from us moved yesterday, though their house was 'sold' several months ago. I think the sales we are seeing now are simply ones going through from the summer. I think the interesting figures will be from around next April.0
