Well iv got a 172bhp Coupe its lots of fun to drive but I she only dose 30mpg if I try and if I do a bad run I see 17mpg the car its worth about £1500 as my insure is £850.
Now Iv see the light and I need to save money to pay back old loans. Iv been thinking of getting old corsa as they will do 50mpg easy and my insure would be less than £400.
I know there not the nieces cars and there not much fun to drive but I will save £450 right away and save myself £10 a week just driving to work and back.
The tax is cheaper £120 a year and mines £300 a year so that a bout a saving of
£2205 a year
£450 cheaper to insure +£180 cheaper tax + £1575 cheaper on fuel is this worth losing the nice ride???
Thanks

good luck with it all. don't forget you can use this thinking to financially audit the other things you use.
ie when you buy the cheaper car, don't just go with the same insurer, have a look on moneysupermarket.com to get the best quote and then go through a cashback site like www.quidco.com or www.topcashback.co.uk to see if you can get cash back on the cheaper deal. Same for utilities, mobile phone, broadband anything you pay out for. Check you are getting it the cheapest way

Virgin are to cheapest to insure me as you do not need to pay a charge to do it monthly. My phone contract is up soon and iv have a friend that can get me 1/2 price deal £17.50 for what is now costing me £35 Lot's of savings to be made that's making me feel better all ready. :beer:0

Still worth checking though - with a new car it might be different. Diamond were the cheapest for me, and they let me pay monthly with no charge for installments. This year they weren't the cheapest, but I phoned them to cancel and they brought the price down so they were cheapest.
So check the prices for your new car on a comparison site, and if others are cheaper than Virgin see if they'll being the price down to keep you as a customer. If they won't, go elsewhere.Debt at LBM (17/10/08) £5727.61 Debt free date 31/08/090 -

I sold my £3000 sports car last year and got a £700 golf on ebay, not regretted it yet. The golf is actually really quick and more practical and the weather has been crap so I dont miss putting hood (and foot) down.0
