Edinburgh for new year?

My two teenagers have come up with an alternative idea this year, they said could they not have presents and instead could we go to Edinburgh for a few days, including new year.
Great idea - but where am I going to find accommodation to rent at this short notice! from around 29th/30th Dec to 4th/5th Jan. There will be 5 of us, ideally we'd like to rent self catering.
If anyone has any ideas or knows of availability - do message me!

Also remember if you want to be in the city centre on Hogmanay, you'll need to either
a/ get there very early before the gates close. Not necessarily a bad option as long as your happy with a meal & a long pub session.
b/ stay in a city centre hotel within the central zone
c/ buy street passes (ebay?).
I'm not trying to be negative, I just wouldnt want anyone coming up & being dissapointed if they find theyre locked out of the city centre. Theres loads of other stuff going on (try a google search for Edinburgh Hogmanay), but the central zone is probably where most of the action is.0 -
Try Mackays Agency for apartments - http://www.mackays-self-catering.co.uk/ or official tourism organisation at http://www.visitscotland.com , taking care to check the exact location carefully. Edinburgh does have good bus services to much of the city even in the early hours of 1 January (see Lothian Buses website for details) but outside the boundaries is a bit more of a problem.
Enjoy

thanks guys! Yes, we were looking at staying centrally, and arriving on the 30th, staying until 3rd/4th Jan. Very helpful - one place overlooking the castle, for £500 - not too bad.0

Is the one overlooking the castle the Apex? If so, the rooms at the front do indeed give a stunning view of the castle, but they do also have a lot of rooms at the back. Be careful when you book, or you may be dissapointed0
