I know your preference is sewing, but have you thought about other crafts at all? I find crafty people are a pretty good bunch, generally speaking, and quite supportive of each other. I know things like scrap booking can get expensive but card making is less so.
I don't know - it's just a thought. I'm trying to think of things, and company, you may enjoy but that don't cost quite so much. If you could combine the two it would be good, woudn't it?
Does the teacher provide machines and materials? It seems a lot for what looks to me an informal group? Or is it that they teach what you want them to teach rather than having a set plan so to speak?
It's difficult to stick your neck out and ask people about meeting up elsewhere, I know, but maybe there are one or two other people who feel as you do? You won't lose anything by asking them I guess?
I suppose it comes down to your preferences though, and if you are happy to pay £15 a week and have less for food etc, than go for it I say. I'm not sure I'd feel the same but then I have different circumstances to yourself.0 -

I dont often do it in post though, in that case it was more of a case of Thank God for that!! someone who understands my point of view, I cant/wont cut right back as that would just make me miserable and not help me long term.
When we're trying to save money and reassess what we are spending we all have to prioritise our activities. The things some people choose to spend out on may seem unnecessary to others but it is a personal decision.
top_drawer - it sounds as if you are gaining far more from this group than just sewing lessons, and you can't put a price on that kind of support.0 -
while i understand as a college student myself it is very difficult to have a job but that doesn't mean you can't earn money. My blog talks about other ways a college student can make money without leaving your room. There is one in particular that I'm very fond of. Cash crate is the easiest and quickest way I've found to make money. Perhaps if your active you could make the 20 a week you need or even more. Even if you just made an extra 20 a month thats more than you had before.
