I applied online on 7 Nov and received form dated 10 Nov on 12 Nov. Made a second app for my wife 5 minutes after my own but she's had nothing. (I wanted two accounts for maximum FSCS benefit.) She phoned on Thurs and was told they had her app so would get it soon. Phoned again today and they now say they haven't any record of her application.

They're now sending form to convert my account to a joint account. Will wait for that before I return application. Would suggest you get rock solid confirmation from them that they have your application.
My wife applied 10/11/08 and me just into the next day. I phoned this morning as nothing in post today and was simply told there was a delay and all forms must be returned by 30/11. I got put through to someone else as I wanted to know they received the applications as there is no confirmation email, which would be nice, at the end of the process to give a bit of confidence.

Anyway, was told they sent my forms out on 13/11 then they needed to speak to my wife (fair enough) and that was also sent 13/11.

Ought to be here for sure if that was the truth by tomorrow.

Contrast to Coventry BS. Applied 10/11 got form 12/11 and sent it back 14/11.

:j BTW I see the bond is back at lower but still good rates

Has your cheque been cleared yet? That ought to have happened today if what they say is true.

Is the question to me - sorry not sure?
If it is, cheque(s) will be sent to Saga with completed forms when (if) we get them.
If referring to Coventry BS, cheque, forms and ID evidence sent back 14/11. Cheque not cleared as of now. Doubt it has been presented yet. If they have it!

Sorry, just reread and realise you were talking about the forms rather than confirmation of account opening. Sent my cheque and app on 8th ... no confirmation, no cheque clearance yet.
  • My wife got her forms on 18 Nov and sent it back with ID and cheque same day. Mine not there despite being told initially both sent same day. Obviously wrong as her letter was dated 17 Nov! I was later told mine would be sent out 17 Nov as of today still not got. Pretty peeved that wife's money have hung about in her account ages now it seems from another thread will be hanging about longer still while they clear it. My money is in BACS transit from B&B to my LTSB account so doesn't matter (today) that my form hasn't come yet. Better tomorrow though :(

In contrast the Coventry BS were really swift with their Poppy Bond. I applied online 10 Nov, got forms 12 Nov, Chaps transfer from B&B 12 Nov, through on 13 Nov, form, ID and cheque away 14 Nov, ID returned by 18 Nov and account was actually opened 15 Nov, security info request in and returned 19 Nov and my cheque was cleared from by account same day. WOW.
  • Still no forms today from Saga. Phoned - they said 5 days so tomorrow is 5 days and if nothing then they will send out by special delivery if I phone then.
  • Anyone know whether Saga fixed rate accounts, when initially opened in sole name, can at a later stage be converted into a joint account?

I wouldn't worry. Sent my cheque of 1st class on 5th Nov and got the account opened confirmation yesterday (20th). That was after 2 reminder phone calls to them.

Don't forget Birmingham Midshires do the admin for Saga - not exactly the most efficient organisation themselves.
