Bristol to Orlando via Newark with Continental airlines

Hi
Any info on the above would be appreciated we have booked the flights and have 1hr 35min on the way going in Newark to change planes has anyone done this?

Is this enough time?

Do we pass imigration in Newark or Orlando?

Do we collect our bags in Newark and recheck them?

Does anybody know what terminal the Orlando (MCO) flights go from?

Thanks

Is it the last CO flight of the day from EWR to MCO? If you miss your connection and you have a through ticket they will put you on the next available flight.
Immigration is at EWR, you will have to go through immigration collect your bags from the carousel and then take them to a drop off point and then you follow the signs to the gate for your next flight.
Put your reservation details in https://www.checkmytrip.com/plnext/XCMTXITN/CleanUpSessionPui.action?SITE=XCMTXITN&LANGUAGE=GB they might have details of terminals

  • Hi

No its not the last flight of the day so hopefully we should get there!

Is the bag drop easy to find?

    Thanks for the reply
  • We will be doing this but flying from Birmingham. We go in 5 weeks time. Interested to see any answers to this.

The good thing about flying in America is that if you miss the connection they will put you on the next available flight, this happened when we flew with US Airways and our flight from Gatwick was delayed. Our luggage did miss the plane we were moved to so had to spend the first night without our suitcase.

But only if you have a through ticket, and always worth checking to see if your flight is not the last flight of the day.

You will do immigration and customs at new york. If you leave on time you will be ok but dont hang arund another altenative from Bristol is KLM Bristol-Amsterdam -Orlando, have done this route and was fine customs and immagration at Orlando and no bag collection at Amsterdam on way our or way in was easy.

I recently flew into Newark and the Immigration queues were VERY long. We must have queued for at least 45 minutes. There is no fast track queue if you have a connecting flight, you'll need to wait in line with everyone else. As far as I know you will also need to collect your bags and go through Customs as this happens as the point of entry into the USA. Thereafter you will be directed on to your connecting flight.

If it was me, I would be slightly nervous about such a short connecting flight..but as your flight from EWR to MCO is not the last flight of the day, hopefully you will be able to take a later flight if you miss your connection.

When you arrive in MCO you will not need to go through international arrivals (where the queues can be worse than EWR), you will just need to collect your baggage and go.
  • From previous experiences we now only fly direct when crossing the pond. It's a tiring enough flight without having delays and hassle before arriving at your final destination.

Have you thought of flying out of Gatwick? You can get cheap train deals Bristol to Gatwick airport.

PS. Sorry, just re-read your posting and realized you've already bought your tickets. You might think about my info above for next time.Have a good holiday.

Just done a similar trip, gatwick to miami via north charlotte. no problems at all, only had 1hr 50min between flights, customs was a breeze, queued for 10 mins max. had to collect our bags and check them again then strolled to our conecting flight. getting an internal flight in th US is like catching a bus, there doesn't seem to be the mad panic of UK airports. Would have no hesitation about not flying direct and taking connecting flights again.
Added benefit- as soon as you land in Orlando get your bags and go, no hanging about and the holiday has started.
    Enjoy your trip!
  • Thanks for all the replys !!
  • Please be aware that IF you do have a problem with your connecting flight in the US it is probably not covered under your travel insurance.
Please read the following letter to United Airlines about an experience we suffered back in October and nobody will accept responsibility or reimburse us.
