Hi,
I don't buy presents for other people in January sales as I usually listen to them when out shopping before Christmas and so I know what exactly they want.
However, as I never know what to ask people for Christmas present for myself and I love clothes, I ask for vouchers and then I do all the shopping for MYSELF in January sales:-)) I love the bargains and the excitement.0

I've been saving the ' you have saved x amount' that's on the bottom of till receipts since February with this idea in mind. I've save over £400 so far, this year's presents have been bought throughout the year, mainly on offers etc on MSE. Best bargain was a toy for dgd1 at £15 reduced from £80!!:j (There's no way I would have spent that amount on one item.) Birthday presents have also been bought this way. Thanks to all who post the bargains, I don't know what I'd do without you.:DSealed Pot Challenge member 28

Does amazon do january sales??? That'd be great, as I have amazon vouchers - I will save them if I can use them for massively reduced items.MSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0

Havent shopped in the sales before and this year in January I bought a lot of stuff from our local charity shops - ideal time when folk are handing in all their 'unwanteds'............kept a list of prices so I could work to the tight budget needed and just added odds and ends as I saw them, plus making a few things suggested on here.
Lovely to know it's all done and paid forMary
I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !

I always do my Christmas shopping in the sales. Don't be caught out with buying just because it's a bargain though. Go armed with a list of people who you buy for and have fun. I always keep my list in my purse then what I don't get in the sales I can get through the year. Don't keep a list and I am bound to forget who and what I have bought. Your still putting as much thought into a present but not being ripped off by the Christmas glitz plus no stressing through the crowds in December.
Cards and wrapping paper are super bargains in January :T0

I never really do the sales as I can't bear all that rushing and pushing and all the dross that they wheel out to sell. I know there are some gems too but I never find them! I might do some online buying from teh comfort of my sofa.
Also, my son's birthday is in Janurary and I'm always hyper-sensitive to presents given to him that smack of the bargain bin!0

thanks everyone! there are some great tips here, all will come in use. My two fav sale shops have to be Next and Boots, i usually get vip for next (fingers crossed i will again) so will def buy lots there. Boots is the one i most want to get my bargains from, just have to be quick on the mark! i agree that i def should write a list because i will forget lol. Also will make sure Husband looks after the girls whilst i do my shopping, i cannot concentrate when i have my lo's with me!0

I know exactly how you feel, my birthday is at the start of january and I am forever being given Christmas things wrapped in Christmas paper! My OH wanted to give his Dad something for birthday and Christmas together (his birthday is Christmas Eve) so I told him off and he has compromised by getting him a DVD for both and a coupleof little bits seperately (and I made him wrap the DVD in half bithday/half Christmas paper!)I want a perfect body, I want a perfect soul, I want you to notice when I'm not around0

I work in retail and i hate the january sales. You dont have any christmas, and then boxing day the sale starts and you got loads of people wanting to get bargains. It drives me insane.
Retailers have sales all year round now, the january ones arent any different where i work than they are any other time. Plus if the january sales started in january i for one would prefer it!0
