Problems with MBNA!

Hi Guys

I'm asking this on behalf of my mother, who is having big problems with MBNA.

Basically, she owes £4000 and they are demanding £140 a month as a minimum payment. I have advised that they should offer a repayment plan and freeze interest, as I have had the same situation with other card providers.

They are being very unhelpful, refusing to help. Also being quite offensive, even when speaking to a supervisor.

Has anyone else experienced something similar? If so - what is the best way to get repayments reduced with MBNA?

thanks

  • Not sure if this will help you, but I rang MBNA a couple of weeks ago to get them to waive a £12 late payment charge as I was about to pay the bill and the payment wouldn't reach them by the deadline date. The person I spoke to said 'no' because they had waived one only a few months ago. I spoke to a supervisor who said definitely no. Half an hour later I rang MBNA again, spoke to another person, asked if I could pay the balance online by dedit card, he said yes but it won't clear for four days which would mean I'd miss the deadline but he would waive the £12 late payment charge! And I hadn't even asked him to waive it!

So, it is possible that if you ring them again and speak to a different person you might get a different answer. And if you aren't already, ring them on the free number 0800 0281290 or 0800 886262.
