Have a beautiful M&S winter coat which will last forever for the pricely sum of £15 - thanks to Team MSE.
Coat seen on M&S website - sells for £79.
Have £50 of vouchers through referring a MSE'r to Sky - so phoned local store to order it in (as predicted they didn't have any size 8's in store), told it would be in a week later.
Phoned on expected delivery day (good job didn't waste petrol going straight there) - they have no record of my order - was I sure I ordered with them(!) etc , bottom line was they offered to reoroder but it would be 3 weeks.
"It'll be summer by the time my winter coat arrives! I think a better idea would be for you to ring other stores to get one sent over."
Later that morning they find one in Worcester (note I'm in West Sussex) so agree to getting it transferred over - at the end of the call me: "Thank you but you're not expecting me to still pay full price are you?" "Well I think we can take off £10 and charge you £69". I accepted at the time
Today go over to collect and the coat fitted like a dream. But I thought why not try it again, all they can do is say no.
Me: "How about we say £65 for cash and no return"
Manager: "OK" (damn should have gone for £60). So with £50 vouchers handed over £15.
It gets better.
M&S worker: "Bet you didn't think you could haggle at M&S did you."
Me: "In these credit crunch days everything's up for negotiation.
M&S worker: "You've been watching that man on the telly haven't you - you're good at this."
I think we know which man she was referring to!
So ta Martin!
