Shouldn't be any charge for using your debit card.
However if it's a credit card they will charge you about 2% + vat...0 -

My mum paid for her car on her debit card. She bought the car for £22,000 ish and paid £21,750 (less £250 deposit). She did call her bank beforehand to confirm that a payment would go through. There were no charges. I think most dealers prefer debit cards as they pay a fixed amount per transaction whether it's for £100 or £100,000.The man without a signature.0
