Barclaycard default repayment

in Credit cards
Hi, new here and after some advise.
I had a balance of £29.31 on my credit card with a payment due date of the 5th Nov, I paid the balance in full using my debit card on the 2nd Nov on barclaycards website and was given a reference number, my online log with barclaycard shows payment made. I have just recieved a letter saying I have defualted on my payment. I imediately rang them and they have confirmed they recieved the paymet on the 6th! but I was been charged £12 for defualting and £1 interest. I said this was disprotportionate to the balance and they offered to reduce the charge to £6 and weren't willing to discuss it any further other than thanking me for making the payment which really wound me up.
I never missed a payment before and use another cashback card so don't really use this card, it's more of an emergency card when abroad for business. I know I should have a direct debit to avoid this problem but as I can't easily set up one from there website I haven't bothered as I use it so little.
I'm very frustrated that they are unwilling to accept that payment was made in time and they have given me a reference number to confirm this. How do I get this resolved when the are unwilling to listen?
