hi can anyone help me? i am looking for train tickets from either market harborough, kettering or bedford to london st pancras or northampton to kings cross return on either the 22nd of november 2008 or 13th december 2008. I am not very good with train fares ( i rarely travel by train) so i don't know what is a good deal etc. I went to London at the beginning of the year and we got a fare that included unlimited travel on the tubes which i thought was good, but not sure what type of ticket deal this is!
i am sorry i sound so dumb but i really am clueless on train travel, if anyone can help me out i would be very grateful.

If you want cheap fare then;
Kettering to London St Pancras 22nd 06:24 £9 Advance single ticket
London St Pancras to Kettering 22nd 22:10 £9 Advance single ticket
It doesn't give you a travelcard if you want a travelcard then either;
Kettering to London St Pancras off peak with travelcard 22nd £34.50 (off peak but no restrictions) or buy one from St Pancras station see below 4 prices
These are Advance tickets and they can sell out quick and you must travel on the booked train
Travelcards prices see here;

With travelling on the 13th there is more cheap advance tickets available starting at £9 and loads for £11 each wayWhoa! This image violates our terms of use and has been removed from view0 -

Your best bet is probably a one day travelcard from Bedford - £22. You don't have to buy in advance and the only restriction is you must travel off peak
If Northampton is significantly easier to get to the same ticket from there is £27.70
You can buy these on the day
It covers the return journey and unlimited travel in zones 1-6 by tube bus tram and DLR.
Forget Kettering and Harboro - fares from there are long distance rather than suburban and hence more expensive unless you restrict yourself to specified trains - and often then if you add a separate travelcard.0 -
no bedford is probably roughly the same as northampton. thats interesting regarding the pricing, never knew that! do bedford have a website or somthing i can book on?0

You don't need to book - just buy it at Bedford station on the day.
You can buy in advance on any rail company website but it will be the same fare (more if you choose one with a booking fee) and there'll be a cancellation charge if your dates change. I wouldn't bother.0 -
thank you for your help, sorry i am being sooo very dumb!0
