Meriva Brake Light Bulbs where to buy?

Options
Please could anyone tell me if I can change the brake bulbs myself and if so where would I buy the bulbs from?

I am presuming it is the bulbs as one brake light went out and then the other.

It is the two side lights, the main eye level - top of boot is on.

I am worried I am driving illegally.

  • you are driving illegally

i would take the offending bulbs out and then take it into any petrol station or supermarket etc

Not being rude but driving round with one brake light then two out is an absolute discrace!

that will tell you what bulb you need

They could be single or dual element bulbs

the reason the centre one works is that its led rather than normal bulbs

    Thank you for your reply.
I am presuming as you say take the offending bulbs out that I can do that myself as that was part of my original question.

I always used to just take my car to a dealer but past experiences have taught me they see a woman and charge the earth.
And my circumstances now mean I can not afford to.

  • yeah, get inside the boot and take the lights out, usually jsut a clip or screw

will take someone who knows what they are doing less than 2 mins per side

if you stuck ask someone at work or a neighbour etc to help, it tells you how to do it in the handbook

your looking at £1 - £3 MAX for both bulbs together
  • i think your bulb for the stop lights are p21w

    which looks like

its only 1 element, so just the stop bulb

there is a similar bulb that has two elements
  • re where to buy you could try your local gsfcarparts or eurocarparts, these bulbs are more no than 50p each.

I dont know where all the anti-dealer animosity comes from, but we charge 49p for the bulbs and fit for free  we dont 'charge the earth', as soon as we see a woman, and are cheaper than our local Halfrauds/CPA/Unipart franchises for the bulbs

Ask for a 382 bulb, they will know what you mean :)

  • Your handbook (pages 197 &198 in mine) describes how to access and change the rear lamps. It's just a matter of releasing some screws ( 4) positioned vertically on the inner side of the light cluster, removing the whole assembly, unplugging the assembly then changing the relevant lamp. You'll see the cross head black screws when you open the tailgate. If you're not sure of the correct lamp then take out the "duff" one(s) to use as a sample at your friendly local motor factor.
You are "illegal", day and night, and sod's law dictates that because you are worried about this and want to rectify a.s.a.p. you'll get caught as opposed to those who don't give a toss and constantly drive around with one or more lights not working. Lots of one eyed monsters about at the moment (one headlight) too.

Edit to add - The pics you got over on VXON forum should help more than a written description.
