Norton virus Protection

I think my computer is confused !! When initially turn on it tells me .... Norton Protection Centre ....... Urgent Attention no Virus protection installed on computer ..... with a big red X
BUT
when I click on another Norton Internet Security icon at the bottom RHS of screen everything is running fine!! .. antivirus and all the rest.
?? Not sure what is up here ...... can anyone help
