Mine has gone from £25 per month to £75! For a two bed pensioners bungalow with no kids. The stupid things you do, you regret... if you have any sense, and if you don't regret them, maybe you're stupid. - Katharine Hepburn0

I had been paying NIE £28 per month by DD .
After the annual adjustment in July this was reduced to £18 because I was in credit .
Then they increased there price by 30% but they didnt adjust my DD .
So I phoned them to get it adjusted ,my new amount is £34 ,and thats only because I am still in credit .Without the credit it would be £38."Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many"0 -

Is the meter reading on the bill accurate? Check it against what it was a year ago and then multiply the number of units by the current price. If that comes anything near £112 x12 you've got a serious problem but on the positive side there must be massive scope for you to reduce consumption.0 -
Not really much scope...we are 2 working parents with 2 kids who go to their grannys after school so nobody is there during the day. Any ideas??It's a great day for singing a song / It's a great day for moving along / It's a great day for morning to night / It's a great day for everybody's plight.
Your father pedals car telephones at a 300 percent markup. Your mother works on heavy commission at a camera store. Graduated to it from espresso machines. Hah!0 -

If NIE has put your dd up to £112 per month they must think you're using more than 10,000 units a year. That sounds incredible unless you're relying on electric for everything including heating and hot water and even then its hard to believe
I have 3 children, the house is occupied all day long and I use electricity for everything except heating and hot water. Even now I am using about 17 units per day whereas you appear to be using an average of 28 over the whole year.
Go back over your old bills and check the readings making sure they weren't estimated and if they don't suggest you're using 10,000 units a year, get back to NIE as there has to be a mistake on their part.0 -
So here is a thought...according to Ofreg the main reason for the changes in tariffs in NIE was/is due to fluctuations in gas and fuel prices... now logically this should have no affect on eco-energy as this energy is not supposed to be generated by fossil fuels, so why have we seen the 30 increase in this tariff?
I like many others received my DD increase from 53 to 86 per month. As for competition int he Domestic market, I have heard a rumour that energia are planning to offer competion buthen will it really be competion as both NIE and energia are linked to Viridian. Seemingly and this came from a source in NIE that the NI market isnt really big enough for the big UK or Ireland utility companies to bother with us... For us moneysavers we will just have to switch off and use the energy saving light bulbs which are now really quite cheap (tescos) or we could be like the ballymena man and sit around a candle if it gets cold....and if it gets really cold ...light it! HAPPY NEW YEAR! 0
