vlookups are always good to know especially as a lot of people in offices struggle with them.0

Intermediate will be getting into functions, filters, vlookups, pivot tables, and probably basic macros. However also make sure you know the options in the drop down boxes etc., such as setting print areas, setting filters, conditional formatting, etc.
Mind you when I worked at the council people knew very little excel. It's only when I've left that I've realised how much time could have been saved with a couple of macros or just a couple of vlookups.matched betting: £879.63

I would assume the test would be related to the job. Is it a finance job, if so make sure you know how to enter formulae.
I work in finance for County Council and I use excel for
Vlookup
Macros
Linking files
Importing/Exporting data to other systems
Filters etc.~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)

Offset is another good one to learn, very useful especially when combined with other functions but very underused.0
