My daughter has sent me an email with a picture that was an attachment to the email, when i tried to open it image jpg(58.7.kb) a message appeared stating: This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action, create an association in the folder options control panel. My computer is a Dell XP. I've tried to find the picture, but am not clever enough to know how to. please help me if you can, leave me a message, i'll be back on this computer in an hour. and i would be grateful for any help. Thankyou so much from charley4

Which mail program are you using? OE should be able to display a jpg image in the body of the message. Likewise, XP should be able to open a .jpg by default with Windows Explorer
Are you able to open other .jpg or .jpeg files without any problem?
In the meantime, try this:
Open Windows Explorer/ click Tools/ Folder Options/ and select the File Types tab.
Scroll down the list of registered programs until you locate JPG.
Highlight and then in the "Details for JPG" in the lower portion of the window, click on the Restore box to restore the default program handler.

Which program do you normally display your photo's with?
In the meantime, try this:
Repeat the previous procedure to open file types.
Highlight the JPG extension and then click on the 'Change' box.
In the next window displayed, scroll down the list of recommended programs and highlight 'Windows Picture and Fax viewer.'
Click on the OK box. Apply any changes if required
