Worried about a letter about ex-partner

I have recieved a letter from CreditExpert Experian about my ex, addressed to my house (which I opened - accidently of course).

He has basically called them and it looks like he has asked them to amend his credit report as he doesnt agree with one of the creditors on the file - they have said they are looking into it and have put an entry on the record in case he needs to prove it.

All in all, none of my business (apart from the fact he is using my address), but my mortgage co are copied in on the bottom of the letter. This is what worries me. He came off my mortgage in Sept this year and moved out of the property a year ago. He has no ties to the property and I have nothing secured on it either.

I have emailed Experian and told them that he has no links to the property but am worried as to why they would cc my mortgage co in. He does not have a mortgage and has signed a rental agreement with his landlord til 2010 (and also has NO money at all so defo would not be getting a mortgage with Gmac)

Also, I am worried about contacting him, as he will shout at me for opening his post and reading it! (Fair enough! But lucky I did eh!!)

Any advice?

To be honest I dont think there is much you can do.

If you are really worried i would ring him up and apologise for opening his post, say you didnt read the name on it as everything is normally addressed to you.

And then just casually ask him what it is about.

Not sure what else you could do.

You might be able to financially dis-associated yourself from him, which may be a good idea. The form is on the Experian website.

    Debt: just my mortgage :D
  • He is such a scammer, that I am sure if he was up to no good he would lie anyway.

I wondered whether to email him and apologise for opening his post and ask him what it is about as I am concerned that they are copying in my mortgage co. All very strange.

I guess as the mortgage is in my name that Gmac would not discuss anything with him anyway.
  • have just done the dis-association thing. should have probably done that months ago

Gahhhhh when will I be rid of my ex!!!
  • have just contacted ex and he has done nothing but be offensive. not sure what to do now

I think as long as there is nothing on any of your credit reports then you shouldn't have anything to worry about. Did Experian say why the letter had been copied to the mortgage company.

  • I havent spoken to experian yetdidnt know if i should call them and confess that i had opened his post! maybe they wont speak to me about it, as the letter is addressed to himjust worried that if he had defaulted on cc between him moving out and my mortgage completing in sept that something bad may have happened without me knowing about it?! im such a worrier, but seeing as he is not prepared to tell them he has moved it concerns me. the letter is about his HFC CC which was in his sole name, therefore i cannot see what it would have to do with teh mortgage company????

They shouldn't discuss anything with you about his report - if they do they are breaking the data protection act.
