Hard sell when closing accounts

I have a few dormant cards so have been ringing round this aft to close some of them..... 3 different lenders offered me 6.9% LOB transfers with no fee, and 2 of them an additional 0% period. I wouldn't have thought they would be falling over themselves to be giving people credit in the current climate!
Barclaycard even offered to give me 1% cashback on purchases for 3 months to stay with them when I said I didn't need their card for online protection etc as I already use a credit card for all my spending needs.
