I was about to yell HPI check too!!!

In this case, thats FAR more important before he parts with a penny - as he would lose ALL his money AND car without a shadow of a doubt if there is outstanding finance. Not many people have 2 high value cars to sell that they paid cash for to start with.

The problem for me is that there are two cars, were it just one and £2k under I would say probably not worth the ORs trouble, but if the other one is worth much more and they sell loads of other things the OR just may take the decision to try to get it all back.

It is a hard call, and I sympathise with your friend, if he goes ahead he really must make sure he gets a bill of sale, dont just buy this car and not have proof, you never know with people, they could then report it stolen and all sorts of problems could happen.

Wishing your friend luck. It is hard when people are in such dreadful positions that they have to sell things for less than there worth, but when needs demand and it is the only way out that is what people do. You can hope that this person by selling things is not going BR but dealing with the problems by clawing in money anyway that they can. Is this a private person or someone with a business that is failing|?

Oh my god I forgot that SKY, that is a must, he must check it has no finance, is not stolen etc, you never know with people!

  • its against the law to sell under hp , and if they did sell the hp company would find where it was and take it back (i think)

i would stay well away from this person selling
  • How do they take a hp check, I think they have just taken thier word for it!

Good god not do not just take anyones word when buying a car. They may seem lovely but so many people have found the car has HP on it or worse it is stolen.

HP checks, think you can do them online, will check that out for you and come back here in a moment.

Right it costs money to do this looks like RAC charge £19.99 for 3 checks, ie on 3 cars.

Google HP checks and a whole page comes up with links to companies who carry them out. They show any HP, stolen or accident damage that the car may have. I highly recommend your friend does this, as it all seems a bit too good to be true if you ask me.

The seller is hardly likely to tell you there is outstanding HP on the cars!

  • That's what I was thinking, the seller who is obviously in financial difficulty may not say about outstanding hp on cars, if they are THAT desperate. I don't think he has paid for a HP check, I have sent him a link to this thread, thankyou all.
