Are you saying that BM will be demanding this in all circumstances?
Nope.
They do an online check. If you score enough points on that, I believe they won't ask for anything (see post #7). (Except the cheque you use to open the account, that is.)
I have no idea what there criteria for the online check are. Others on this board have said that they sailed through without any problems.0 -

Thanks for that!
i applied online to BM late last week, but nothing through yet, probably arrive tomorrow, hopefully, so it would certainly help if there aren't silly holdups with ID etc0 -
When I applied to Coventry, 2 years ago, they accepted self certified documents. I just had to write, "I certify this is a true copy of the original document." sign and date.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I have never had to send ID with any new account i've opened, except for Coventry earlier this year. Why can they not follow the same system as it seems most institutions use? it is very odd.0

Abbey are the same. I didn't bother applying for their 6% 2 year fixed rate because I knew that I couldn't get any of the documents listed above in time. The offer was removed from their site yesterday.0
