Help finding cheap hotel in Manchester

Hi, I was wondering if anybody could help me find a hotel in Manchester city centre at a reasonable price. Ideally close to Canal St.

Either:
Room 1:
2 adults, double

Room 2:
1 adult, double

Or:
1 Room:
3 adult, family


Arrival: 09/01/2009
Departure: 11/01/2009

£60 a night and seems close to centre.
Try holiday inn leasure rate aswell they can be great when u find them!

A friend of mine got a great rate of £30 a night on a double on Laterooms at the Mitre Inn, which is a over by the Cathedral so a bit of a way from Canal Street, but not a bad area.

The Britannia is near Canal St (just off Piccadilly) and cheap, though a bit too "lively" for some;) .

If I was staying overnight, I'd go to the City Inn - nice new bright hotel near Piccadilly Station, more expensive but you get what you pay for.

Jurys Inn is nice and good location, about 10 mins walk from Canal Street. Rooms from £60

Also, The Palace sometimes has deals on lastminute.com etc.. The Palace website has rooms from £89. It's just round the corner from Canal St and very smart

I think there's an Ibis (? sp) near to Canal St. On Portland St past the junction with Princess St iirc.

I've just booked a room at the Gardens hotel in Piccadilly - certainly walking distance to Canal street for £50 a night.
Don't know the price for your dates - I used Late Rooms.

Most of the recent reviews suggested it was ok.

I've stayed there - not bad but we were allocated a windowless room which i wasn't expecting. Might not be a problem for you but I found it bothered me a lot - felt very claustrophobic. Worth checking if you wouldn't like this.

Very convenient especially if you arrive by train.

That actually doesn't bother me having stayed at Sachas and Thistle hotels in Manchester without windows.
Just wonder though do the Gardens hotel let you drop off your luggage before checking in?

days hotel is nice. part of the uni. its a conference hotel or summat!
