I want to sell my car....

Looking to sell my car in next 2 to 3 weeks as i am going away on a ski season for 5 months and cash is better than the car sitting not being used.

Just taxed it and passed its MOT and great low mileage (31k for 2001 fiat punto)

Where is the best place to advertise the car. Dont like autotrader as been wripped off by companies saying they advertise your car and sell it within a week for £70 and you would get that back if they sell your car and never bother advertsing it.

So looking for other options. I am located in Surrey if that helps.

I'll move this thread to the 'Motoring & Public Transport' board.

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

You cannot blame AutoTrader for that, it was the fault of the person advertising the car, nothing to do with AutoTrader.

    eBay would be another option.

Use Autotrader. It's not their fault you were daft enough to entertain these companies. You could put it on eBay but most peoples experience of selling cars on ebay usually ends up in people either not turning up at all or turning up and walking away - they seem to view winning an auction as winning a right to view the car, not that they've bought it.
  • will you need a car when you get back?

will you spend the cash when your away?

If the car is a good car and either of the answers above apply, i would keep it

And remember its not worth as much as you probably think.

    How to sell:-

Word of mouth (friends and family)
    Autotrader
    EBay
    Local Paper
    Auction
    Sign in Car window

Take your pick each will have it's pros and cons.

If said companies call you tell them.... I've heard of firms like that and was advised to not pay. However, if you do find me a buyer who buys the car then I'll pay you £140 after the sale:D

Autotrader or eBay is the best bet

I'm just jealous that my days of ski seasons ar behind me.

I took the car on one of my seasons and otherwise was lucky enough to be able to store off road on my parents yard (hence no tax or insurance). A 2001 Punto is not going to be worth a lot anyway so won't lose much in the next 5 months so if you can SORN it you are probably much better off keeping it for when you get back rather than then having to find another car which you don't know the history of etc.
    I think....
