Any money saving tips would be greatly appreciated!!
Flowers - I'm having just one single rose with a sparkly bit in the middle, the same rose for buttonholes for groom and DS and single roses in little vases at the reception. As I'm getting married at christmas flowers get even more expensive so this option was more do-able.... and I think it'll be quite nice just holding the one single rose:D
Shoes - in most cases shoes cant be seen under wedding dress so I'm just wearing black long boots that I've already got that... they're comfortable, they'll keep me warm (it being xmas eve & probably chilly) and I don't have to spend hours looking for some shoes for my horrible size 8 feet:rotfl:
Bridesmaids/page boys etc - don't have any!!!;) I have annoyed a few people by not having a "bridal party"... but its my day so tough!!:p The only other person involved in our wedding is my 12 year old DS who is going to give me away. Totally agree!
My mum was a bit miffed when I told her that we weren't bothering with a best man/maid of honour/bridesmaids. I'm having my daughter and my niece as flower girls and that's the lot.
I don't think she understood the concept of a 'small' wedding:rotfl: we are having 35 guests and our budget is around £3000. £1300 of that is for the reception.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. Cheap skate tip - I didn't do thank you cards we told everyone as they were a waste of money/ bad for the environment we would give money to charity instead, no-one seemed offended, after all what do people do with them ,they end up in the binBusy mum of 3, so if my posts don't make sense or ask a silly question be patient:rotfl:0

i havent really read all the posts properly so sorry if i repeat anything
ebay has been my bestest friend wedding planning. there are some sellers who do gorgeous silk bouquets, how about a single long stemmed flower with some nice ribbon tied round it for bridesmaids (will cut costs hugely) and a fairy wand for your daughter, will make her feel like a princess and saves pennies too!
your dress - wait till middle of december and go to BHS, they usually get out all of the wedding stock they didnt sell during the summer and reduce them A LOT to make space for the new stuff, or try milly bridal, you can even design it yourself or send them a picture of what you want and they will give you a quote. they also ship quite quickly
tiara/crown - ebay all the way!!!
you can also get silk buttonholes from ebay, i got 10 for £12-50!!! and theyre beautiful
invitations - id suggest going with vistaprint, you pick the design, decide what information to put on them, theyre great quality and very cheap
thank you gifts, wait till a couple of weeks after xmas and boots have 75% off all their xmas gifts and you can pick up some lovely bits for BM's etc
im not bothering with wedding favours, they are an un-necessary cost and guests dont even notice if they arent there
im sure ill think of other things but my mind has gone blank now LOL
 hope that helps x0

Thanks for all the tips everyone!!!
I've bought a flower girl basket for £4.70 on eBay - I do love the wands - and I reckon she'd have preferred that if she had the choice, but this was a complete bargain at 1/3 of the cost!
Good idea about single long stemmed flowers for b/ms - i'll either do that or get them children's posies - I don't want a big bouquet myself so this works fine for me!
Shoes - I'll look in new look - my sis works there so 50% discount!! Just worried they probably wont have any sandals yet.....not that I can't get them a month before or something, but I'm worried if I leave it too late then I most CERTAINLY won't find anything I like!! Just worried they probably wont have any sandals yet.....not that I can't get them a month before or something, but I'm worried if I leave it too late then I most CERTAINLY won't find anything I like!!
Bridesmaids dresses - Landy ones are too expensive for me, as I've budgeted £150 for 3 adult dresses, 2 11yr old dresses and my daughter's dress - and I REALLY don't want to push that up!! I am still looking.....I wish the shops did more lilac this time of year - I'd be in heaven in the January sales snapping up the girls' dresses!!!! Looking for ivory flower girl dress, maybe with lilac detail (if not then i'll make a lilac sash or something!)
 How's everyone elses planning going??0
