My mum and dad have just moved my nan into a purpose built flat. Her mobile home is completely unsalvageable so needs removing and disposing of.
Cheapest way to do this?

Tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it yet...

set fire to it?
or put it on ebay. peeps may buy it for the chassis?
or freecycle it.
if its got ally sides and steel chassis, the scrap men will take it.Get some gorm.0 -
Thanks - can't set light to it although did think about it - just wouldn't be right for my nan to be looking out of her new kitchen window at the blazing inferno that was once her beloved home.
It's quite big (came in two halfs and has 2 bedrooms and conservatory) would the scrap men really take it?Tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it yet...0 -
If its got enough metal in yet then yes. Try phoning round your local scrap merchants and ask if they are interested.0

So your are saying it more like two static caravans bolted together....if so was it on a park because they would get rid of it ..or is it on private land?0

In my mum and dad's garden and yes is bolted togetherTomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it yet...0

I know old statics are use by people building their own houses..... check on the internet for second hand static caravan dealer or Static leasing for building they may buy it of you. If not you will have to break it bit by bit scrapmen do not touch caravans there in no money it ....it take too long to strip them out. You have nothing to lose by putting it on Ebay though...0

self builders would be glad of it. they use them to stay/live on site whilst building.
the biggest problem of course is the transport cost. at least 500 quid to move it.
if nr manchester try norton transport, trafford park.
they specialise in portacabin etc removals. we used to use them all the time for containers etc...Get some gorm.0 -
Freecycle - assuming it's not expected to get you paid any £$£$
If it is 'worthless', the people that do garden/garage/house clearence work, rather than a demolition firm. (it'd be too small a job for them, I'd think)

Providing all the services are isolated and depending on its construction, ie it doesn't use asbestos cement fire boards etc it should be beyond the ability of a small gang of friends/family members to take it apart. You need to plan how you intend on beinging it down by looking at the structural members. You can't just take the roof off and work down as its likely the thing will collapse in on you. If it doubt, ask someone who knows what they are looking at. As for disposal, the cheapest way I've found to do things like this is to rent a van/flat bed and use your local tip/recycling centre. After all, you ppay for them out of your taxes, you might as well get some use out of them. If you're not generating trade waste you are entitled to do it. Also, if you go the route of a rental vehicle then you can possibly salvage any scrap metal and weigh it in at a local scrappies?
:beer:Some people don't exaggerate........... They just remember big!0
