Country hotels in the Scottish borders/Northumberland

Hi
I'm looking to book a nice hotel next year for my wedding anniversary either around the borders or further into England. We're after a country hotel, maybe with woodland walks nearby etc. A bar with a nice open fire for the end of the day would be ideal too, can anyone recommend anywhere?
Thanks

  • hi crusty,

Wedding anniversary? Open fires? Country hotel?

Sounds like just the job for : www.bestloved.com

We haven't used them for the area you are thinking but I have found them very reliable, and Matfen Hall in NE England looks very good.

    Enjoy!
