Limit on the amount drawn out from cash machines?

Hi all.

I just tried to draw out some cash from a cash point (in the UK) and it wouldn't allow me to. I'd already successfully drawn out £200 earlier in the day.

Is there a £200 limit per day or something?

Most UK banks wil impose a daily limit. It would be best to ask your bank for a definite answer.
You could go into a bank with your passport and make a cash advance.Depending on the amount required you may be required to wait for them to carry out security checks and obtain authorisation.

yep, it's usually £200-£250 per day from ATMs and a limit on the number of debit card transactions per day to prevent fraudulent use. Your bank will confirm what these limits are and you can ask them to be increased or reduced if you prefer

The limits are also set to ensure that there is enough cash to go around! The bank may choose not to increase your individual limit, as it may be linked to the type of account you have.

Over the counter withdrawals are just fine for other amounts and ID of your card and driving licence should suffice.

As Martin says in all his TV progs though, why not use a credit card with cashback rather than cash? I know they are not acceptable to all retailers, but Jack Fultons takes them now!

Egg inform me that I can withdraw £500 per day from my Egg Money card (it has however a positive balance on it). Most other cards are about £250 per day.
