Southern Electric PriceFix 2008 Length of Contract?

I Signed up in ca Oct/Nov 2007, that actually started the 7th Jan thru' late transfer via NPower.
Now SE tell me that my PriceFix contract will finish at the end of the month (November)!

Any Comment, Views, Suggestions?

After reading your replies, it's nice to know of other people in a similiar position. thanks to all.

Plan to look at way market may change due to credit crisis, stirling exchange rate, possibly splitting Gas & Electric supplier. Any one with ideas?

Yes I am also on this plan - so sad that it is coming to an end. They tell me that my gas will increase by 65% and electricity by 40% because being on the November 2008 price fix has shielded me from many increases. Can't find anything else around that comes anywhere near this for price.
Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time

  • Also been on this tariff since switching from Npower feb 08.
Big increase on the way so just make sure you contact SSE before end November and switch to one of their better tariffs, online one seems the best otherwise they put you back on their standard tariff.
As for switching supplier I am holding out hoping that prices will fall mid 2009 and SSE will lead the way as they are due some time at the top of the best buy table having been towards the bottom for some time since the price fix 08 tariff ended.

I was on this tariff but took the gamble and switched to E-on's capped price in August, I think the gamble paid off as I'm still around 30% cheaper than any tariffs available at the moment.
    Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently! ;)

When phoned them the lady implied that I would be switched over to their standard tariff. What do you mean by their online tariff? Where can I find the details of this?

    Thanks

Have a look on their website http://www.southern-electric.co.uk/
They have a number of products cheaper than the standard tariff, and if you feel prices are going to continue rising you can phone them and fix till 2010 for 6% above their standard tariff.
Personally though I think prices will fall mid 2009, due to a combination of lower oil price and government pressure.
