Ceiling light/dimmer switch HELP PLEASE!!!

My mum's partner is attempting to put up a ceiling light for me. The light works no problem however doesn't switch off using the existing dimmer switch. Nothing seems to operate. Can anyone help please???

the A wire is called the switched live. usually has a bit of red tape on the end to show its the switched live wire.
it connects to the light pendant, via C, then via the brown wire B.
and hence it switches the light bulb on/off.

Get some gorm.
