Issues with Gmail

Hi,

i have a tiscali web email, which is picked up via gmail and sent to my inbox.
Since saturday afternoon no mail has hit my inbox, but if i check gmail, the inbox there is empty but my web tiscali box has the mail.
its driving me nuts as i need my inbox beeping when i get emails not having to go to tiscali and check there as they r so slow to load .
any ideas whats up? help much appreciated xxxx
ive checked my settings and nothing has changed when i do a send/recieve from windows mail it says no new messages.

why are you using gmail as an intermediate service - can't you get the tiscali mail direct on your PC?

becuase im no longer with tiscali, im with skybroadband, but i need my tiscali email as ive used it for thousand of comps.

How are (or were) you getting the mail from Tiscali to gmail?

If you are using a pop mailbox you should be able to set that account up on your PC (Thunderbird). Otherwise if you aree no longer a customer of thiers but can still see the tiscali on web mail it sounds like they have disabled your pop box so they can get you back to the site and see all the great adverts they have there?!

when i look at windows mail acct settings
my pop is pop.gmail.com underneath that it has my tiscali email.

I use Thunderbird - this allows multiple email accounts (I have gmail, 2 x bt, and 3 others for various work / social reasosn) and have no idea on windows mail.

You should be able to use your tiscali login info (as used in gmail account if that is the way you are doing it) to get these mails delivered to you desktop.

Yay!!!! i used thunderbird and messed around a bit with pop/smtp and actually have it configured!!!!!!!!!! i just recieved all the mail from tiscali (340 msgs!!! and was able to send!!!!)

Yay!

MS stands for "Must Suffer" - well worth getting good quality flexible open source software to do a job properly (Thunderbird, Firefox, Open Office etc)

Glad to have been of assistance - I'll let you get back to sorting the wheat from the spam!

As an aside, I have an old Tiscali email as a throwaway, and collect it through Gmail (mailfetcher).
This means I can use imap to get Tiscali email, as the Tiscali account doesn't support imap.
