ok heres the deal im looking to buy a desktop from pc world/currys as i have £800 of vouchers that i have got from commisions at work.
now im not a techie person but im looking for one for my son that he can use for online gaming storing music etc with hopefully a 20" screen.
i have looked myself and im okay on the hard drive spec etc but ive no idea when it comes to processor/graphics card etc. i have been inot pc world and the all seem to be students earning there spends and i cant get them really to tell me anything about specs etc and if you have been inot pc world lately they dont even specify on the display what you are buying.
now i have a bit of time as this is for xmas so any help would be greatly apreciated.
p.s a laptop is out of the question as we have a hard enough time getting him to bed without him having the freedom of a laptop to take to bed with him.

I have to be fair and say that my experience is completely different. I was in a large Currys today and a (to me!) VERY young man was helping me with my fathers wish for a new TV and he was patient and def knew his stuff. He even went and checked on Pricerunner for me when I asked about best price as apparently they price match but not on internet only stores!
I should try again and tell them which bits you need help with. I often play the 'daft' housewife and pretend total ignorance (instead of just partial ignorance:rotfl: ) and then I can tell if they're giving me duff info on the bits I DO know. You could do this with the Hard drive spec?
Good luck anyway.:D0 -
The dell xps machines are nice ..and around your budget.
The only thing I would recommend is, if you see something you like ,before you buy it ,check whether it is cheaper on line .Pc world do this a lot ...Offering a discount to order on line ...Then just nip back and pick it up.0
