No way out.........

  • Thanks all for your help and concern.

This truly is something of an emotional rollercoaster........I`m feeling a little stronger tonight again. I`m just a born worrier and have been worrying myself to death over all of this. I suppose it`s understandable to a certain extent.......

But, am thinking I actually have 2 ways out......to go bankrupt or the unthinkable, and no way in the world am I going to allow £11/£12,000 worth of debt put me in an early grave. There is NO third option for me, as in making arrangements to pay them off at all........the disposable just isn`t there.

Since being advised by the CAB to go bankrupt, I`ve spent the last couple of weeks trying to get my priority debts in order pre-BR (rent, BT etc) so as not to encounter any problems with these as a result of being declared BR. The latest development is that my answering machine is lighting up like a lighthouse with a loan company chasing me as I cancelled their DD 2 wks. ago and this is the first default on this account :) All my other creditors are catalogues......they`ve been phoning relentlessly for months now........I swear I must know their numbers off by heart

So, like everyone else, I`ve been using all my available cash these past few weeks to put me in a "safe" position to go BR, as regards my rent and suchlike, and it`s been a tough couple of weeks financially trying to do all this. Due to my misgivings over the silly discrepancies in this BR, I think the sooner I get the ball rolling the better. Once that L.I.L.A. form is in the mail........there`s no going back, right? :rotfl:

I think the turning point really came last night.......I had no money left to buy credit for the gas meter, so it shut off around 8 pm and it was blooming cold. I refuse to continue to live like this, although I`ve learned so much since coming here.......I can now differentiate between `needs` and `wants`, and I am sooooooooo over `wants`, but to have to live without gas is rather inhumane in this day and age, so........BR it must be......I do indeed have a way out, and as so many of you have kindly said........I ought to grab it, so I shall.

Admittedly, I will worry until such times that I hear that my BR has been approved, but I must make myself strong and `wing it` and hope for the best. As so many of you have rightly said, it would be completely idiotic of me to try to conceal credit account details from the OR and the chance of him making a big deal out of my minor misdemeanours, considering my sole income is benefits, is remote. And as some of you have said, I can complete the L.I.L.A. form honestly, without incriminating myself, since the form doesn`t seem to go into any great detail.

You have all given me tremendous support and done your utmost to allay my fears.......I am most grateful. I now realise the complete and utter despair that debt can bring and I look forward to living a simple life. This whole experience is changing me for the better.

Thanks again for standing by me and being there when the nerves overtake me.

Nice to see you more up beat today. We will be here for you every step of the way. Things can only get BETTER remember that, and as you say being without heat is a real eye opener to what you need as opposed to what you may consider you want, the needs should always out weigh the wants.

I can live without Prada, Versace! in fact I always have, hate designer clothes me. There was a time in my early twenties when I earnt mega bucks and it was nothing to pay £100 for shoes and I am talking here 1978! I look back and think how bloody stupid really!

Take care and keep posting you may still have doubts and down days that is normal believe me and everyone else here, you get thru them.
