Rail tickets from Milton Keynes

I have to take my daughter to some university interviews between now and Feb.

26th November, Milton Keynes Central to Canterbury (any station) have to be there by 11am, departing after 4pm (same day).

7th January, Milton Keynes Central to Bangor (Gwynedd) arrive by 11.30am ish, departing after 4pm same day.

She will have purchased a young persons railcard prior to travel but I'm still getting prices in excess of £105 for Bangor and approx £67 return for Canterbury.

All prices for 2 adults with a 16 - 25 young persons card.

Can any experts help out with pricing, this time of year is costly as it is, so if anyone can help I'd appreciate it.

  • Try this 4 Bangor;

    Milton Keynes to Bangor(Gwynedd) 7th 06:22 £24 (£15.85 YP) Each advance Single
    Bangor(Gwynedd) to Milton Keynes 7th 17:04 £16.50 (£10.90 YP) Each advance Single

    Book early as these Advance tickets can sell out

    Will try and find tickets for Canterbury and then get back to you

  • Thanks for your time, hadn't spotted that one.
  • With the Canterbury trip, because you starting your journey during peak time you will have to pay the anytime fare, I tried to split for the peak part of the journey but it works out about the same price.

  • Thanks for looking, thats pretty much the conclusion I came up with.
  • Send her on her own! She's old enough to be independent and in any case she'll want to choose the university herself; you get to save loads of money.
