  • Yes, I must be honest and say I don't entirley believe the information my council has given me.

As I understand it from the DCLG, there is no 2k limit.

The private quote we had was £ 6,500 all in..rather than 7.5k plus £ 2k worth of fittings plus VAT!

I've now asked the council for two more contractors to come round and they have been a LOT more thorough and asking more of the right questions which is a good start.

To be honest if I had £ 5 or £ 6k from the council i could get this sorted though they have said they ahve now run out of money until April...again, the DCLG seem to think that they can apply for extra funding.

At the end of the day my poor mum is suffering badly and all this talk of money is so irrelevnat - she just needs it done! So to cap it all the man from teh council said that despite this alreday having taken a year it might all be in vain beacuse when we have a new council they are not sure what the new rules will be....hmmm, can't see that the law has changed whatever the new sign is they decide to stick above county hall.

I am interested in the Anti-slip flooring as I was told there was no such thing. Only something that is not so slippy.
I can't remember if this is the same stuff I've got, but it's very similar.

Like I said, it's not cheap, but I've not slipped on it yet, and although it looks like it would be uncomfortable to walk on, it isn't.

  • We tend to use Altro Marine flooring - http://www.altro.com/Products/Flooring/Altro-Marine-20.aspx

again probably not cheap but its what been recommended in all the London boroughs I've worked in. and they now do it in something other than blue!

You can get treatments for floor tiles as well - try B&Q or similar for advice.
  • That's the stuff. Thanks ElectricSoup.

Like I said earlier - it looks like it'll be uncomfortable to walk on, but it's not. And it tends to remain quite warm underfoot as well.
