Need Ideas For Raising Quick Money For Christmas

Options
I need to raise some money for Christmas, mainly because I'm buying a Nintendo Wii, plus gifts for a lot of relatives.

I'm out of work at the moment, so I'm not bringing in all that much: I get money from benefits and the New Deal scheme, plus I've sold a good amount of stuff on Ebay, but I don't think that I'm going to have enough to buy everything I have to.

So I need ideas as to how I can raise some quick cash. In terms of skills that might be useful, I'm very good with IT, I'm a quick typer and I'm good at writing articles/reviews. So anything that would use those skills would be ideal for me.

Anyway, any ideas as to how I can raise the money?

Might seem like a bit of a drop, but as someone suggested, xmas temps are all the rage now.

Places such as Boots, Woolworths etc are crying out for people who can work.
  • Hotels, coffee shops, fast food places always need staff too.
A minute at the till, a lifetime on the bill.

Nothing tastes as good as being slim feels.

    one life, live it!
  • Why buy? could you make something memorable? A scrap book/ or offer your services like I will babysit/ wash your car for six months or cook for a special occasion/ defer the cost? Don't feel under pressure to spend money you haven't got as most people feel really special if give them something thoughtful even if it costs you little or your spare time. Good luck

don't spend more than you can afford on christmas. every year when i go back to work after the xmas holidays i ask people what they got for xmas - half the time they can't even remember. it's such a waste.

you could get a nintendo wii free with some mobile phone contracts - that might be worth looking into.

Surely claiming for benefits stops you from earning extra income through other avenues such as ebay etc.

I take it you are declaring all your additional income to the relevent people?

Thats how it was when I was claiming, I know its tough to live on that kind of money but when I was on benefits theres no way I contemplated big presents for people, if they didnt like it then they didnt deserve the present anyway!

People may (and probably will) disagree with me but earning while on benefits and not declaring it is plain wrong and in my opinion stealing...sorry to sound harsh!
Debt free = December 2010...as of March 2006 it is now January 2010..... as of December 2008 it is now December 2009 :j hopefully sooner!!
:jDEBT FREE:j January 2012, took longer but I got there, all by myself, through sheer hard work and pride!

It depends on how much money you make on the side. If it is a large amount then yeah you need to declare it but if its a small amount then I do not believe its stealing.

I am a lone parent and know I have made the odd few quid wI should hile on benefits just to tide me over. I am deeply in debt due to a failed degree course and other things.

I see you point though, I know some people that work and not declare it to benefits.:mad:

In my opinion small amount, large amount undeclared is still deceiving the system. Anyway, enough about that, as others have said temping up until Christmas would give you an income to achieve the Wii and other bits. When I am shopping I have seen Xmas Staff required notes up in shop windows all over the place.
