Rbs Svr ???

  • I wonder if our MP's would be interested in this, after all they did say they were going to cut the rates to benefit customers.

I have done this and he is looking into it, I would urge all others not happy with RBS/Natwest not dropping the interest rate to do the same and contact their MP's.
  • I have had an RBS tracker morgage for the last 10 yrs my letter received yesterday adv me the cut in int rates are now down to 5.19% w.e.f 1st Dec, I hoped to see a 3% figure so unclear about all of this too. Planning on ringing them this morning.

Definitely worth giving them a ring.

Hope you don't find that you are NOT linked to the SVR, like RBS Offset holders like me!

You've just reminded me of when the Halifax had two SVR's (I moved my mortgage from them after that fiasco).
  • I phoned yesterday. Still under review. I dont personally think this is sufficient information given that most if not all other banks have now made a decision on what is or isnt being passed on. So I requested to speak with someone who could explain to me what exactly is taking so long to review and get a definitive date on when this is going to be resolved by. Having this open ended I dont think is acceptable, especially given RBS's position right now. I also want to understand why rbs were so quick to pass on the 1.5 to the other SVR, but not this one and why indeed there is a separate SVR in the first place. A little cloak and dagger. I want a guarantee that RBS's intention is not to try and force us offset customers to move elsewhere (this is made more probable by the fact they have removed the offset to new customers). If they are trying this, then I would defiantely want to ensure that we are not liable for any admin cost in moving mortgage - we are talking around a £1000 for most setup fees now.

Anyway, noone high enough was available that could talk to me about it when i phoned on Sat, so I should be getting phoned back in office hours. I'll let you know if there's any new info.

I dont expect the full 1.5%, but I do expect something. I also think that simply not providing any information at all is just wrong. Soon will be a month since the rate drop, there is likely to be another significant drop then. If there is still no info, I will also write to the MP, but I do fear it will be pointless. What is the process of writing to your MP, and is there anything else that can be done ?

I suspect you are right in thinking that they want us t go elsewhere and not be on the offset - they will be struggling to get a decent interest rate on our savings now so won;t be making much out of us. Thanks for pestering them on the phone - will be looking out for any messages about info you get from them.
  • when I spoke to Natwest at the end of last week I asked them when they would make a decision about the rates, they said a decision will be made on Monday whether to lower the rates or not & by how much. I'm not holding my breath.
