Hello,
I was wondering if someone could help me with a couple of questions please?
1. If on a low income, could a family apply for council tax benefit on their own (mortgaged) home or can you only apply if in rented accommodation?
2. Would a family be able to claim income support if the total family income is only 17.5k per year?

1. yes you can claim for any property - not just rented
2. depends on make up of family, and whether anyone receives anything like DLA or carers allowanceCheryl0 -
1. Yes you could apply for CTB.
2. I do not think you would get IS with that level of income but you can check any entitlements on entitedto.com0 -
£17500 equates to approx £335 a week. You would not qualify for IS on that income, even with premiums.
Have you looked at applying for Working/ Child Tax Credits?Gone ... or have I?0
